Schubert’s Schwanengesang  Afternoon tea & Concert  4.30pm Wednesday 25 October
Netanya AACI is delighted to welcome the talented musician Gila Perach who, together with cellist Hannah Blachman will present Schwanengesang, (“Swan Song”) an exposition of Schubert’s last works which were discovered after his death. Schubert wrote the songs in 1828, his last tormented year alive. His composing skills were at their peak. The pieces are near-perfect: well-balanced, full of richness, and with Schubert's flair for catchy melodies.
Gila Perach studied clarinet, piano and theory at Manhattan School of Music and then spent two years in Paris studying composition with the famed Nadia Boulanger and piano with Gaby Casadesus. In 1978 she entered the prestigious Academy of Music in Vienna, where she made her home for the next 38 years. She enjoyed a varied career of composing and performing music, as well as lecturing, writing and teaching the subject. This period included a five-year stint at the Vienna State Opera and one year at the Vienna Light Lyric Opera. Since making Aliyah Gila has continued to present concerts in a lecture-cum-recital format
Hannah Blachman is a Music Teacher, pianist for Cantacappella Choir and a freelance cellist. She is a member of The Israel Sinfonietta, Beer-Sheva.
To set the Viennese scene our program will start with afternoon tea and a slice of apple strudel.
