Professor Livia Biton-Jackson was born in Czechoslovakia. She emigrated to the US in 1951, attended university and received her BA, MA and PhD degrees. She has taught at several institutions of higher learning, among them City University of New York, where she has been Professor of Judaic Studies for over thirty years. This lecture is a continuation of Prof. Jackson's talk about Three Millennia of Jerusalem in November. Beginning with the British Mandate, 1917, the Balfour Declaration, through Nov. 1947, the UN Resolution to Partition Palestine, which called for the internationalization of Jerusalem as a "corpus separatum" and the War of Independence, 1948, the Six Day War, 1967, which in Jerusalem was only a Three Day War, till today, the story of Jerusalem will be examined. She will focus on fascinating historical records as to demographics, ideologies and semantics.

AMD – Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Dr. Gideon Naor, Chairman of NAMAG, developed reading blindness from AMD, the
most common cause of legal blindness in the Western World for those over the age of
65. He will tell us about his experiences and about NAMAG, the volunteer organization
which provides a Hot Line for physicians and patients, established support groups,
helps locate visual aids, and lobbies for inclusion of the newest and best treatments for
this condition in the basket of benefits from the health funds. After his talk there will be
time for questions, fielded by Dr. Edward Fineberg who has been an ophthalmologist for
the last 40 years, working as a retinal specialist.

Election Evening

the Jerusalem Post at our Moadon on 28 Shmuel Hanaziv prior to the National Elections
