In response, we are setting up an orientation meeting to be chaired by Avi Cohen.   We invite every interested member to come to the meeting to let us know what you would like to do, what plays you would like to read, or what plays you would like to act in. We will be happy to hear any ideas you might have about time and place as well as subject matter.

The meeting will take place at 7:30 pm on Sunday, 26 October, at the AACI.

Municipal Elections

We are planning an election evening in conjunction with the Jerusalem Post, the candidates for Mayor and the different parties standing for election to the local council.  Please look on our notice board, website and e-mails for details of this event.

Voting in Israel

Election day is on Tuesday 11 November. It is an official holiday from work: schools and government offices will be closed. However, public transport will run normally and most stores and businesses will operate as usual.  Polling stations are open from 7:00a.m until 10:00p.m.

The address and number of the polling station will appear on the white postcard which is sent to every voter about three weeks before the election

The voting process is as follows:  The voter identifies him or herself to the polling committee with a te’udat zehut. Only an official te’udat zehut will be accepted. No other document can be used. The voter’s name is located on the voters list.  The voter receives two envelopes (one for mayor and one for council). The voter enters the voting booth: selects a voting slip and places it in the envelope and then personally places the closed envelopes into the ballot boxes.  Only one slip may be placed in the envelope otherwise the vote is invalid.

Wanted : Director  & Producer for Theatre  Groups

We are looking for a director and a producer for drama and music group theatre productions at Beit Oleh America Netanya AACI.   The positions are voluntary. Interested applicants should contact Rachel at the Netanya office or e-mail rachel@netanyaaaci.org.il

A caregiver support group for spouses, partners, or adult children who are in a caregiver role is forming.

The group will attempt to help the caregiver deal with the psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of their role. Although a lot of attention is given to the sick person, very little attention is given to the caregiver. Yet, the caregiver is in a very demanding role, often unsupported, not appreciated, expected to change their roles, change their daily routines and their expectations. In addition, the sick spouse is often self-consumed with health problems and does not recognize the changes his or her  caregiver has to undergo. Although the group is not involved in psychotherapy, it will attempt to support those who are also in need, the caregivers. The group is a community service project offered by AACI and will be held at the AACI office.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed for approximately 2 hours a week to enable the caregivers to attend the support group. Sometimes, it is very difficult for caregivers to leave for even short periods of time. The volunteers would visit the home and relieve the caregiver for a short time.  There is no charge for this program.   If you are interested in the group, please contact us 09 833 0950
