Brenda Miller Music Lectures - Back To Creation
For those not familiar with Brenda, she holds a Masters degree in music from the
University of Witwatersrand, South Africa and is a Licentiate of the Royal
College of Music and of Trinity College, London. This is a three-lecture series
on Tuesday evenings. Each lecture lasts three hours, starting at 7pm, with a
short break for refreshments.
#1 Tuesday 28 October - HAYDN - The Creation
The spirit of the Enlightenment is amalgamated with Haydn's uncomplicated
personality to produce a work of filtered beauty
#2 Tuesday 11 November - MAHLER - Symphony No.1
Mahler equated the generative capacity of his musical motifs with the fecundity
of Nature
#3 Tuesday 25 November - BARTOK - Concerto for Orchestra follows the "Divine
Proportion" of Creation
