8pm Thursday 13th November
Robert Binder and Paul Salter return to Netanya AACI with a new program, “Say It With Music,” the incredible career of songwriter Irving Berlin, who was not only America’s longest-living (100+) composer, but also its most successful and – admit it – popular.

Starting with simple ragtime tunes that he could play in only one key – and that on the black notes of the piano, Berlin captured Tin Pan Alley, Broadway, Hollywood and the world with his unforgettable melodies and simple, down-to-earth lyrics. “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” was Berlin’s first hit, but he quickly followed it with a series of catchy ragtime numbers that made him the toast of New York and London (where he composed “The International Rag”).

From there it was a short step to Broadway musicals and memorable movie musicals with Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Bing Crosby, Alice Faye, Al Jolson, Judy Garland and all the brightest stars of the silver screen.
Binder and Salter direct the productions of the Encore! Educational Theatre company, which this past season has produced The Mikado, Keys to the City, and The Wizard of Oz, as well as concerts featuring highlights of the musical theatre in Herzliya, Petach Tikvah, Tel-Aviv, and of course, Netanya.
Turn back the pages of the Berlin songbook as B&S regale us with “Remember”, “Top Hat, White Tie and Tails,” “Always,” “How Deep is the Ocean,” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” among two dozen of Berlin’s finest. Book early to avoid disappointment!      Tickets: NIS 60 At the door: NIS 70 (Non-members NIS 10 surcharge)
