Agam & Design Museums

September 19-9:00 am

Agam & Design Museums

New Date – Thursday 19 September

Postponed from Tuesday 17 September

We head south to Rishon LeZion for  a guided tour of the recently opened Agam Museum, which displays six decades of amazing artworks created by Yaacov Agam, regarded as one of the prominent modern artists worldwide.  The perception of Jewish reality is an essential theme in Agam’s work and is expressed through his use of movement, which induces the viewer to participate in an extraordinary visual experience. In Israel, Agam is known for his famous kinetic sculpture, “Fire and Water” in Dizengoff Square, as well as the facade of the Dan Hotel and the external design of the Ne’eman Tower, all in Tel Aviv.

After a break for picnic lunch, we move on to Holon to the Design Museum. It opened in March 2010 with the primary goal of challenging existing perceptions of design and the way it affects our lives. Housed in an iconic and inspiring building by the internationally acclaimed architect Ron Arad, the museum is a vital and dynamic resource for designers, students, creative industries and the public, representing part of a long-standing commitment to culture and education by the municipality of Holon. Our guided tour will tell us about the building and the current exhibitions: The Conversation Show, Forms of Smiles and Genetic Discourse.
