Do you like to talk about books?
Do you have a favorite book you have read that you would like to share?
We are starting a new book talk group led by Liz Morley which will meet once a month, on a Tuesday, at 10.45am. Liz has been working with book clubs for over 10 years. Each month there will be a list of questions provided in advance to facilitate our discussion. Liz is looking for others who want to help lead a discussion. If you haven’t tried this before, she will work with you so please feel free to send her your ideas for books: firstname.lastname@example.org
Our November book choice is Where the Crawdads Sing by by Delia Owens.
For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. In late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. However, Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life – until the unthinkable happens.
Where the Crawdads Sing is an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story and a surprising tale of possible murder. Delia Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps.
This program will be by Zoom only.
