Play reading followed by presentation from Aliza Tennenbaum
7.30pm Sunday 15 September
Diane Samuels, drama teacher and educator, was born into a Jewish family in Liverpool. She wrote the play Kindertransport which, although fictitious, is based upon many real Kindertransport stories. It explores the life of one Kindertransport child, Eva, during and after World War ll. As events unfold for Eva, the moving story is uncovered of how Jewish children from Europe were uprooted, separated from their parents and transported to a different culture with a new language, where they faced considerable challenges that, at times, even threatened their Jewish roots.
Our play-reading is directed by Judy Frankel the cast includes Jackie Altman, Melanie Danan, Natalie Green, Carmel Miller, Yael Rahum and Malvina Shaltiel.
Aliza Tennenbaum is the Director of the Kindertransport Association in Israel. She left Vienna in 1939 and went to England as a Kindertransport child. We are delighted and honored that she will be joining us and speaking after the play reading.
