Members’ Collection:

Hillel Factor, Anna Rosenfelder & Ruti Sadowski

From 22 December until 27 February

Our next art exhibition will be made up of three Netanya AACI members’ art works.

Hillel Factor was born and educated in South Wales and moved to London where he worked in various engineering departments of local government and large engineering firms. He then set up on his own, designing property extensions and conversions. Although he hadn’t painted since his school days, he always thought it would be very nice to take up oil painting as a hobby when he retired, particularly as it would be completely different from the detailed and accurate plans which he had to prepare during his working life.  After making Aliyah in November 2008, he joined an art class for about a year but then preferred to paint at home whenever he felt inspired to do so.

He enjoyed painting landscapes, flowers and portraits.

Anna Rosenfelder’s first experience with painting was at secondary school in London in 1948. Totally hopeless at drawing or painting, she thoroughly enjoyed the experience with bright colors, and sloshing paint on large sheets of grey drawing paper. Her art teacher was an eccentric artist who encouraged her all the way and she was actually rewarded with the Middle School Art Prize! She then did not paint again until the 1970s when she was living in Canada.  She finds painting is the best therapy. Her favorite medium is oil paint, but she has also worked with acrylics, charcoal and pastel.  She enjoys painting landscapes, trees, water, rocks and flowers, but is always happy to try something new. She is delighted to have joined the enjoyable Netanya AACI art class with Ruth Lenk.

Ruti Sadowski graduated from the Michaelis School of Art in Cape Town in 1963. She made Aliyah in 1972 and was busy farming and then doing many years of granny duty.  Ruti recently returned to painting after a break of 20 years, and finds painting fulfills a creative urge to express herself.  Ruti paints in pastel, acrylic, etching and oil. Her favorite subjects are her grandchildren and familiar scenery: the emotional connection to each picture is very important to her.
